The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. Since the Last Great Time War, it is thought that he is the last Time Lord. He is currently in his tenth incarnation.

The Doctor's favorite planet is Earth. He enjoys visiting it throughout history and first visted Earth during the French Revolution. He has also played a part with some of Earth's history, starting the Great Fire of Rome, the Great Fire of London, and the fall of the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire.

The Doctor has saved Gallifrey several times and has fought other Time Lords at times, including the Master, the Rani, the Monk, and the War Chief. At one point in the planet's history, the Doctor became the Lord President but fled.

At one point, it was believed the Doctor used the Hand of Omega to destroy Skaro, the Daleks' homeworld.
