The Solar system is the star system named for its sole star "Sun". It is normally called the solar system by humans, one of their languages being Latin in which the word "Sol" means "Sun". Since it is the sun of Earth, Sol is the focus of many science fiction stories.
The system has 8 planets (formerly considered to nine).

- Venus (Sol II) - homeworld of the Venusians
- Earth (Sol III) - homeworld of Humanity
- Mars (Sol IV) - homeworld of Martians and Ice Warriors
- Ceres
- Jupiter (Sol V)
- Saturn (Sol VI)
- Uranus (Sol VII)
- Neptune (Sol VIII)
- Pluto (Sol IX) - second home of humanity after Earth became to hot.

However, in many science fiction stories, there are hidden tenth (or more planets)
- Mondas - Twin planet of Earth, home to our universe's Cybermen in the science fiction series Doctor Who . In Doctor Who, the system was destroyed in 5.5/Apple/26 when Sol, which had been held back, was allowed to expand and engulf the planets. (DW: The End of the World)
