The Shadow Academy was a space station built by Brakiss to use as a training center to recruit Dark Jedi for the Second Imperium in 23 ABY.
Technology
The Academy was circular and was ringed with gun emplacements for defense. It was noted for being equipped with a clocking device and, as a means of escape, the station was ringed with engines to allow it to slip into hyperspace.
The station also housed thousands of explosives for the Great Leader of the Second Imperium to use if Brakiss failed to raise an order of Dark Jedi or betrayed him. Training centers and at least one torture chamber was used to train the Jedi to call upon the Dark Side of the Force. Docking bays held TIE Fighters, TIE Bombers, Skipray Blastboats, Imperial Assult Shuttles, and Battle Platforms.
History
Brakiss moved the Academy above Coruscant so that it could destroy supply ships carrying weapons and hyperdrives. Using solar mirrors, Chewbacca and Lowbacca and the Solo twins exposed the station and forced it into hyperspace.
The Leader, revealed to be a clone of Palpatine, arrived and was accompanied by four Imperial Royal Guards. He ordered Brakiss to attack the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 and the battle was going as planned before the arrival of the New Republic Fleet under Admiral Ackbar. Demanding to see the Emperor, Brakiss killed two Royal Guards and descovered a third operating holographic images of the Emperor, revealing that even the clone was an illusion. The fourth Guard activated the self-destruct and the Shadow Academy was destroyed.(SW: The Rise of the Shadow Academy)
