Gul is a military rank in the Cardassian Guard, held by vessel or station commanders. Its closest equivalent in the Federation Starfleet is that of captain, but a gul may have additional responsibilities such as commanding an Order or governing over an occupied territory. This rank is superior to dal but subordinate to jagul.
A ship’s gul will usually take a cut of the profits from the cargo they are transporting. They are also expected to entertain guests aboard their ships.
