Green Lantern is the name of a sci-fi comic book franchise, and also the name of the titular character, Green Lantern. The comics are set within the DC Universe.

The Guardians of the Universe, an advanced civilization of Maltusians, choose a representative from each Space Sector to become a member of the Green Lantern Corps, patrolling the universe for wrongdoers.
