Leather Men are a race of robots known most for being the Black Guards in the service of The Great Tyrant.

Leather Men look like soldiers in leather plated armor covering the entire body. Although it looks like someone is inside, Leather Men are without fleshy substance. When Pygar destroyed one of the Black Guards, Barbarella was shocked to find the guard broke into pieces.
The Leather Men had no hands. Instead, they had whips and orbs for their hands. They could still manipulate levers and buttons but could not hold something.
They could hear everything that went on around them, and took orders with no objection, but couldn't speak. Leather Men were recognized for the humming sound they made.
