In the Romulan Guard, Centurion is a commissioned officer's rank, roughly equivalent to Lieutenant commander in Starfleet.
Captain James Kirk disguised himself as a centurion when he stole a cloahing device from a Romulan D7-class starship.
Commander T'Shara was killed by one of her own centurions when he mistook her for an enemy officer.
